A big dissapointment for my Grandson and for me.You can stand within a couple of feet and not hear on this product, I do not recommend this, a waste of money.being a subscriber to AT&T for telephone and Internet service, I would think they were surely experience with communication, no so!They worked fine for the toddlers.Don't waste your money, these things are horrible. They're not made by AT&T, they just licensed it, says so on the package. There is no volume control so you can't hear anything, and God forbid you walk more than 20 feet away from each other because all you hear is static. It makes me so mad that my mother bought these for her grandson because "they must be good if AT&T makes them". It's made by some company called Kidz Toyz in NY. This product absolutely sucks, stay FAR away. I wouldn't pay any amount of money for these, wouldn't even take them for free.Somebody gave this to my kid as a birthday present. He was so excited. One of the walkie talkie batterieswas dead before I even got to test it out. The screw on the back of the battery compartment is micro and stripseasily. I had a micro screw driver specific for toys and it just stripped the screw. LAME!Unfortunately my experience was the same as apparently everyone else - you can barely make out a voice through the static, even standing less than 12-15 feet away on the other side of a hollow core door. One would have expected some minimal level of checking to see if any of the devices actually performed. Even Walmart should be embarrassed for selling these things. My experience with this toy was similar to that of the first reviewer. There is a lot of static all of the time, and voice is barely audible at a distance of even thirty feet. One would think that the manufacturer might have at least checked to see if the basic functionality was there before shipping. Good ole' Chinese technology....
