We live in a 40 acre farm and these walkie talkies are great to keep up with the kids especially when they aren’t insight from the house. The range covers our property. No matter where the kids are, I can hear from them clearly through the devices. They often take them in camping trips which serves a security purpose. My 8 year old daughter loved them and knew how to use them without ever using any before. We used them while hiking on vacation. While you can control the volume for the speaker, every time you hit a button on the device to change the settings it makes a very loud beep. But once you have the settings where you want them you don't have to change them much. We will have fun with them for a long time! Sound quality & battery life are great!!! Overall I think they’re nicePoorly made.This is a good little set and i would have given it 5 stars but i thought it had way to many buttons for young children to figure out.First of all, these are meant for children.That being said, I would expect them to be a little more “basic” than what options are available and included. What I find is that when the child has the ability to make changes to a number on the screen, they'll do so. The end result is grandpa ends up having to take both radios and sync them up together again. If a child is between the ages of five and seven, you'll be doing this a lot. If the child is between the ages of eight and above, you won't need to worry about it because they won't want to play with brightly colored walkie talkies that were clearly made for a child anyway.Again, even though the options are nice, they're not necessary for the wee ones. The voice quality is about what you are going to expect from a speaker of this size and in a device in this price range. The range has proven to work well for our yard and our neighborhood, and we don't let the kids wander off more than a couple 100 feet anyway.These walkie talkies my kid really wanted. They have brought long periods of fun. All functions workm the buttons are easy to push. Talking comes in clear. They have a good range all around the house and outdoors. My only problem is the back comes off easy giving easy access to the batteries. The battery life is great.
