We received these in the mail about an hour ago after I eagerly awaited their arrival. I really wasn't sure about how quality they would be for 4 units at this price. Frankly, it is about what I expected. They could be a bit better, but for being something that my kids are going to be playing with, I'll take the cheep quality at this point.The range is about what I expect with a UHF FRS radio. Outside they are just fine. Inside one building the reception goes way down really fast. I look forward to a point to test the reception at a further range (I'll try to update if I have something good to report).I had read a review that said the charger that appeared to be advertised wasn't included. I would have been okay if it hadn't been, but I was pleasantly surprised when I opened it and there was a charger included.The part that surprised me the most is the menu. There are more options than most will know what to do with. As a licensed amateur (KB3IXT) I went to work learning all of these. You can select High/Low power, but I'm really not sure why you'd select low. I do picture it will come in handy for saving the battery. You can also adjust the squelch, which is unusual for FRS radios. I haven't tested it yet, but there is also a Vox control on these radios.If you are looking for a durable, quality radio to last a long time, I'm not sure this would be the best investment. For the price, however, I think they are something good to have fun with.I use these walkie talkies at events. Our range is about a mile. We've never had any problems with them. Be aware that if you're looking for earpieces to go with these walkie talkies you, you won't find any that work, but they are working with the manufacturer on that issue. However, the volume is perfect for every day use and I like that they aren't so expensive, I can let my nieces play with them and not worry about them breaking them. They are very sturdy. They've been dropped at events. If you put rechargeable batteries in the walkie talkies, then the charger that came with them will charge 4 walkie talkies at the same time. Their customer service is very responsive with questions. Again, good quality for the price. As long as you don't need an ear piece for when you're in noisy environments, these will work perfect for anything.Why include a power cord when this does not come with rechargeable batteries? My 10 year old proceeded to insert the required 3 AA batteries and then plugged it in thinking she was supposed to charge the unit. Thankfully I noticed it before going to bed as it was starting to melt internally and would’ve caused a fire if left overnight. I realize reading instructions would’ve avoided this, but it seems odd to market these as rechargeable when no such batteries are included.UPDATE: I was contacted by the seller and they thanked me for bringing this to their attention. They've since updated the listing to make it clear rechargeable batteries are needed in order for that feature to work. Also, I used the units with my kids last night and they worked great. I was on channel 11 while downstairs and they were on their own private channel upstairs so I could not eavesdrop. When they needed me for something they would change to channel 11 and we could clearly communicate. So due to great customer service and a quality product I am changing the rating to 4 stars.We bough several of these to take on a cruise. They worked better than expects at quite a savings. I used rechargeable batteries and they lasted the entire week. Great walkie talkies for family to stay in contact.They are easy to use and pretty durable. Sure, they don't come with batteries but for the price, they are really nice. Spend an extra $10 and get some rechargeable batteries. I'm pretty happy with my purchase.While this says it is rechargeable it is actually only rechargeable when you BUY rechargeable batteries to put in it. I feel like it is misleading.These raidos work fine, and have the same features most do. The sound quality is ok, but not great, same goes for the mic.Buyer beware: These do not recharge as is. You need to supply batteries. Because my kids threw out the package, I don't know what type of batteries they will charge. Since there are 3 major chemistry types, and not all chargers will recharge some, I can't tell you what to get.I love these walkie talkies! They are very easy to understand and recharge. I have an elderly father who is bedridden and I can go out in the yard and work and he can he can use them to tell me when he needs me. I use two at a time and recharge the others so I always have a pair ready to use.
