Ordered this 5 unit set for use at work. I work as a store manager in a large fast paced retail environment where customers and associates are often spread out and often out of line of site, and communicating and coordinating across a busy 20,000sqft environment can sometimes be frustrating. I am happy to report though that these radios work great in our store and provide clear transmission anywhere, and I have accidentally taken a radio to lunch with me several times and was surprised I was still hearing chatter from the store over a mile and a half away and through a busy mall ! I havent used the included programming cable or software as they worked perfectly out of the box, but its nice that its included in case you need the flexibility to customize your radios.Each radio came sealed in its own box with detachable antenna, belt clip, wrist lanyard, battery and charging dock and everything worked great right out of the box with no need for troubleshooting to get all the units to work together. Simply turn them on, select your channel and they are all ready to communicate !They are pretty durable as well, and look great. There are ports for a headset should you wish to use one but I find it an annoyance and the transmission is usually loud and clear enough that its not needed even in a loud and busy retail environment. I am very happy with this purchase, as are my employees and they go a long way in helping coordination, productivity and morale !As long as you arent miles apart with a mountain in between you im sure these radios would probably work great outdoors as well. I currently use motorolas talkabout MSR350 when hiking or camping (which while providing many features like weather radio, waterproof, flashlight etc to name a few) are many times more expensive per unit (and bulkier!) but I am seriously considering picking up a set of these for summer camping due to their simplicity, size, quality of transmission and cost (its nice to hand out radios to the group then you can all go exploring while staying in touch)Overall these are great all around radios that simply work and dont seem to have any shortcomings. I'll update my review as they go through the gauntlet of the summer and back to school retail season and see if they hold up !
