The SAMCOM T2 radio really works great for camping or outdoor activities. I had been attempting to find a radio that provided NOAA weather alert capability in addition to being a good two way radio. This really hit the mark and exceeded my expectations. In addition after having received the radio pair I had a couple questions for the seller and my correspondence (via amazon) were answered within a few hours. So it begs the question(s) for Pro and Con'sPro:- Good battery life, (on standby for 12 hours setup to received NOAA weather alerts and the battery was at 50%)- I chose one of the low xmit power channels (they are listed in the owner's manual and the radio displays low or high on the display) I then set up a random CDCSS privacy codes. Went for a walk and had a clear non-static signal over a block away from the house talking with my wife. More than good enough for camping and time will tell how further distances will work.- NOAA weather radio was crystal clear. (although distance from the x-mitter will determine how well it works in other areas as we travel.- Simple to operate and good loud sound via the volume control- Rechargeable batteries via USB (USB C) is a plus in my book.Con:- Setting up the radio is not difficult if you take the time to read through the owner manual. I did discover what I think is a software bug for setting up the NOAA weather portion of the radio. If the "key beep" feature is disabled (turned off) the radio will not open the squelch nor allow you to receive a local NOAA signal as you step through the NOAA channel search. Not a big deal as I just turn on the "key beep" and the radio buttons 'beep' again if pressed by the user. I'm not big on every button push making a noise but can live with it. I have no way of knowing if this otherwise effects how well or if the NOAA alert features works if that one setting is toggled off. (I did send this issue to the seller and they acknowledged they would review my input.)- A reminder that you do need the required GMRS FCC license to operate this particular radio.- Extra batteries are not yet available but should be sometime in the future according to the seller response I received.p.s. The built in LED flashlight wasn't in my thinking when I purchased these radio but does come in handy. :)UPDATE: 03/26/2023Having travelled with these radio's I can't say enough good things about them. The battery life has been good and one of the most important things has been the NOAA weather Alert feature. My wife and I were woken up by the NOAA weather alert feature overnight when severe weather/tornado warnings came about in our area. Being away from home and in a hotel I had located the active NOAA x-mitter in our area and setup the radio accordingly. It works and gave us peace of mind as we knew bad weather had been forecast for our area. We were lucky nothing serious occurred in our immediate area but with spring storms routine for this time of year I will always have these radios ready to travel.
